Review: Escape From Benzor

Escape From Benzor Escape From Benzor by S.A. Krishnan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was longing to read a really good science fiction for a long time and then I stumbled upon this book. Well I must say author has done really nice job working with the characters, scenes and technical aspects in the book. I felt like reading a star trek version of a book. I am pretty much sure if you are star trek fan, you might love this book. All of those Inter-Planetary stuff will excite you and keep you guessing.

I really enjoyed reading it throughout but there were a lot of confusions with the new-worldly terms and things that were mentioned in the book. I wish there could be a glossary to decipher the meanings of those things. Apart from that, I was able to get many terms by the time I finished the book that had me confused and head scratching in the beginning.

Narration was brilliant and the writing style was enjoyable. There were areas, I felt it could've been more engaging but well it might be just me. I'd recommend this book to geeks or the ones who like reading geeky, techie and suspense filled books. It is the first book in series so I am excited to see what will be coming in future releases.

I'd classify it as one of the hidden gems, try it and you will love it.

Truth behind the trend of Book Series

Publishing books in series is the latest trend in the market. Somehow everyone turns up with a duology or a trilogy or many times the series continues till there are like 15 - 16 books in the series. The funny thing about this is that many actually have the story that goes on till that many books and rest others end up bloating the book and publishing a series at the end.

If I sum up all the disappointment I've got in my whole life from reading books, 70% of that comes from the book series. I know it would to be too blunt to just say it out like that without being buttery or diplomatic. Most of the authors just go as their publisher asks them to do or they just are over possessive with their art on the paper. So, instead of trimming their books or lining up the story line properly in a better and interesting way that makes reader love the book, they end up making a series out of it.

I know some of you think I am removing some kind of frustration but well if you look around yourself. Just take any book series and look for the points that I just mentioned, see if they are somewhere true, you'll find your answer.

Now the question comes why a book series and not stand alone book? Well talking about stand alone books, most of the times these book series, parts don't even qualify as stand alone novel in their own. If I just jot down their story line in some points that I won't even find a proper story in the book. Hardly a few points or turn-arounds that make you feel Oh yeah! that feels like a nice plot! But nah! 70-75% bloat is published in the name of character development and plot building.

Well, for the answer to WHY? That all is done to earn more. Most of the publishers go for a series tactic as in this way they sell more. Why would an Author object with this when he/she could feel relived about their manuscripts not getting trimmed and instead getting divided as two different books? So, when the first book in the series is launched, they promote and invest a lot. Doing loads of giveaways, promotional campaigns, Marketing discount campaigns etc.

If we see this from the marketing and business perspective this is actually a nice way to sell more. Honestly I don't have issues of Book series which actually have some story ongoing and those books can stand alone if someone's not read the other parts.

But why to publish bloat and call it a book series? Ever thought on that? Well this is all from me. I'd love to know your comments about this.

Review: Sensation of a Soul

Sensation of a Soul Sensation of a Soul by Jyoti Patel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Sensation of a Soul is a poetry book by Jyoti Patel. Poetries usually touch your soul and heart. It reveals the feelings going inside in a beautiful manner.

So as this book is a complete package if you are finding something in a poetry genre. It contains of 51 different poetries with different meanings which are beautifully expressed.

Love, desire, dreams, heartbreaks, overcoming of it etc how a relationship suffers, what all it go through everything is shown in such an alluring way that while reading it you'll probably love to read this in one go. You won't be able to take your eyes off from it.

Personally I just have one problem with it and that's this book cover, it looks like full of life but the poetries inside, the story shown by her and it's cover I find it mismatch. Probably it can be improved a bit more from my point of view.

Now again coming on the poetries then some of its poetries are written so gracefully that it takes your breath away. Not being much of a Grammar Nazi, the book has a smooth language and can be easily understood by the readers.

You don't need to keep a dictionary to understand the words. The writer has maintained the flow but at some points you'll find that writer has brought some unnecessary things in between but when you get a complete package of heartwarming poems in one book then this can be neglected easily.

The writer Jyoti Patel has given her best in this book. She has probably covered the every section which usually few writers miss too cover and had shown the complete story or a novel in the parts of poem which is quite a tough job but she has successfully done that.

Review: The Fall of Lucifer

The Fall of Lucifer The Fall of Lucifer by Wendy Alec
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I rated it 3 stars just because I felt the story was weak here, the plot wasn't either engaging much. I was too busy trying to get along with the over the way language. Though It could be my personal part but I felt it was a bit over do on the writing rather than going with the story.

Book could've been more fun to read if it had been more engaging in this feels more like a curriculum designed textbook which has loads of words you need to google before reading ahead. A bit over do on my part. I'd Like to read for leisure, for study my academic books are enough :P Jokes apart If someone is a fan of 70's language and writing style with all those shakespeare kind of vibes this one is for you. For someone looking into action-fantasy and leisure reading this one isn't for you.

This book as more references to the Bible so, you might find a lot of things familiar while reading.
Advice, read slowly and keep a dictionary handy because this book will surely increase your vocabulary.

Review: The Mystic Soul

The Mystic Soul The Mystic Soul by Jyoti Patel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a sweet set of romance saga packed in all into different versions. I actually liked the style content is complied into it. It feels like a whole story being told in form of poems, prose, and then microtales. I really enjoyed the transitions from poems to prose while diving the story. Microtales at the end added like cherry to cake. This book can be a sweet little romantic gift for your partner or a good lightning read for a romance lover.

Review: Sita: Warrior of Mithila

Sita: Warrior of Mithila Sita: Warrior of Mithila by Amish Tripathi
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Disappointed after reading SHIVA triology. It totally lacks that creativity which was in Shiva trilogy. I think that series actually created benchmark for rest books. This and its previous books felt like they're just same story that we know been told in new words. Not anything creative or iterative again.

I feel this book sorta creates a base for the SHIVA trilogy world, i dont know if it actually is or not but this series feels like it. Writing is also done over philosophical and less interesting than previous ones. and I feel some parts were like copied from the first book in the series.

How to Support Your Favourite Author 101

I've been receiving messages saying, I'm your fan, I really enjoy reading your books, When you're publishing you next book and so on. Then when I ask them if they had bought a copy of my book, the conversation slowly goes awkward and then turns into How many copies did I sell? Well, for the first instance thanks a lot for supporting and taking interest in my book sales, much appreciated.

I know many of us first search for pirated books of our favourite authors online and if we don't find any we just ask our friends if they had them. I know there'll be several ones who wouldn't be able to afford books by themselves, but Piracy  isn't a way out to it.

So here I am bringing you a list of tips that you can do to support your favourite authors and encourage them to write more. Everyone needs motivation don't they? Just they're published doesn't mean they're super duper millionaires right now.

  1. Try to buy books legally and don't support piracy. I know many of you'll say why to pay for something that's already available on Internet for free. This is something that you won't understand until and unless you yourself publish your work and put yourself out to people.
  2. I know paperbacks can be costly and some publishers over charge for copies. You can opt for Ebooks which are I think almost 1/4th of the original paperback's cost. Even Ebook is a published book. Some people count it as nothing. Talking about Ebooks, do you remember those save paper campaigns? I don't think I need to write an article on advantages of an EBook.
  3. Please don't opt for piracy as far as possible, get 2/3 reader friends, contribute and buy a copy that you can share amongst yourselves.
  4. Even if you any how fail to buy a legit copy and go for pirated copies, at least promote the book over socials, give it some reviews on Goodreads, support the author while you can.
  5. If the author is your friend, mom, dad, brother, sister, anyone close, Please don't ask for free copies. I know this sounds weird but who'll support if you won't? When you buy copies it increases the sales graph and book sales rank rises. There's absolutely no issue in giving free copies but when author buys the copy himself it doesn't account in any sales.
  6. Free copies distribution to people is a mere gimmick for authors and an earning trick for publishers so in that way they earn something even if the author doesn't do good in market. By this way of authors buying their own books, publishers are getting their cut but poor author ends up paying for his own stuff.
  7. Never ask an Author how much did he sell, it's like asking someone how much he/she earns.
  8. Getting published doesn't mean we are millionaires itself. It takes time, people need to buy, read, support, appreciate.
  9. If you want to read, and are given a free copy, please review it and spread it over socials and help author with promotions. It doesn't take much time to just post what you're reading over socials.
  10. Last but not the least, please don't support piracy and opt for any library service like Kindle Unlimited, which can be accessed over kindle app on mobiles. When there's a will, there's a way. EBooks are real books as well, just its not on paper, doesn't mean you can treat it like anything.
So these were a few points which I as a newbie author wanted to tell out to my readers. Personally, I always upload my first drafts on Wattpad.com Where people can read and comment on initial drafts. I know it won't be as good as edited and published materials but that's how you can read my books for free and without promoting piracy. Along with that you can comment on it and lemme know what you like and what you don't.

Once Upon A Genie - Book Review

Once upon a Genie is a debut novel by Author Durriya Kapasi. The story revolves around a young girl named Daisy whose granny leaves her with a magical present after her death. Daisy comes across a genie whose trapped in the bottle. She frees the genie from the trap and in return the genie thanks her and asks her for her 3 wishes.

But the daisy, who was sad after her grandma's demise starts feeling lonely and gets depressed. There's when the genie comes to her rescue. The story is a fantasy romance mix where daisy falls for the genie. Someone who can't be her forever.

The book is been well written with absolutely butter smooth language flow. It's a page turner for the readers who enjoy heart warming mild and subtle romances. Personally I feel that there was a lot of scope to be played within the plot which was left unnoticed. But as the writer assures of sequel, I would be eagerly awaiting for what happens next in this cute little love story.

For readers who prefer fast paced books, you might not be as impressed with it but you'll generally like the story for its concept.

Kudos to the Author for some really innovative plot. A heart warming romance saga between a human and a genie surely makes everyone curious. I really enjoyed this because of the plot idea and narration which was buttery. Though you can call it knit-picking but as personally i prefer fast paced novels I didn't fan over it. I wish there was more playing in with the characters and scenes especially when the genie is involved but overall I would love to rate this book as 4/5. The book is released internationally and you can buy it from the links given below.

Paperback buy links:

Blurb by Author :Daisy had no idea what was in store for her when she uncovered the priceless reward concealed in a miscellaneous bottle; a super sexy genie that would pull the rugs below her feet.
Khalil Muwahid, the genie owed Daisy his gratitude for freeing him from the trap. He generously asked her for three wishes without holding any grudges against her. Gradually there was a strong connection between them, the bond of love.
Also, the rules of Djinn world were amended for their love, where Daisy wasn't supposed to ask for the third wish since they could be together, everlastingly.
BUT on the horns of Dilemma, Darren, Daisy's best friend's life was at threat. Does she use the last wish to save Darren? Or does she save her love?

Hayden Mackay & The Forgotten Kingdom - A Wattpad Book Review

Title: Hayden Mackay  & the Forgotten Kingdom.

Author: Jyothi ( @jyothi89 )

Genre / Style / Subgenre: Fantasy/ 1st & 3rd person mix / Action

Tags Used: Action, Adventure, Fiction, Projectfriendzone, Folk, Friendship, Indian, Suspense, Violence, Young Adult.

Review: Hayden Mackay is a young American teen with Indian roots. His life is normal until he loses his parents in a road mishap.

After which a series of events turn the state of the situations completely as a weird stone starts following him everywhere. Also a boy, quite similar of his age starts stalking him, he observes him from a distance and keeps smiling whenever the protaginst notices him.

The story takes twists and turns when Hayden Mackay accidentally burns a hound with his bare hands which was on a rampage.

This is a story of friendship , adventure and supernatural powers making it an interesting read.

Critique: The concept of the story isn't flaunted very well with the blurbs and cover as both need some serious remakes.

Speaking of writing, the author as ensured to make the least of the writing errands and grammar knick-knacks. The language flows smooth and is very well written.

As coming to the plot, the plot and concept idea of the story is really interesting. But the story is snail paced and you need to have lot of patience to see some real action.

The story doesn't take place in any other world but the events are most of the times taking place away from the most human interventions. It gives away a feel of another world and not being some other world actually.

The events takes place in present and kinda reminds me of Harry Potter plot.

The plot sequence is really good until and unless you've the patience to go through it all along as the writer plans a book series. This is the first book in the series and there are a total 3 books uploaded on Wattpad as of now.

Personally I feel it's one of those undiscovered gems which need a Spotlight as this story has some real original plot and might leave you with a happy experience of reading the next book.

How to Judge a Book - Is It a good pick?

Once you made up your mind that you want to read a book, then you're off on Internet either to check some reviews before buying one or go to some book website to order them. Many of the times the reviews are biased or your thinking doesn't match with the reviewer. Many times you follow reviews and get a book, but after reading you feel 'Ah! It's boring', 'Why did I waste my money on this?',' This is not my type'.

It completely spoils your mood when you're soo into a book or waiting for it to arrive and read as the reviews and even the cover and blurb is great but when you open and read the first few pages cuss words leave your mouth. Ah! Don't deny, we all do that and it's okay. After this many will ask me 'how to choose a book?' for them I am writing this post so that you don't end up choosing something that doesn't suit your taste and end up spoling your moods.

The cover and the blurb has a lot of effect on the readers when they are out for choosing a book. Whether you're buying it from a local bookstore or ordering it online. Online at times you can save your money from buying something that looks so promising but isn't your type at all. As many times, some websites allow preview for a few pages to be read to see if the book is really good or not. Some of you may be old school and follow the book bloggers/vloggers. But there's a difference when you see a review buy a blogger and any normal user.

While reviewing the proffesional bloggers mostly avoid harsh terms or most of them time they don't even point out any cons in the work. As many of them go by the line that its someone's hard work and things like that but for them, I would like to say, why would anyone get what you like?

And then there are times when you'll find people writing really crappy reviews all over but if you just see the amount of copies that the book's been sold is really impressive. So when it comes to end, after seeing reviews by bloggers and comments on social media and stuff, you are actually now not in a mood to buy a book.

You suddenly start feeling that nothing's worth a buy or nothing is worth your money. Even if you're on some website like Wattpad you'll feel like nothing suits your taste. It's all crap.

So I wanna share a few tricks that I use while picking my books to read. If you think they're good you can follow them or else the old school methods awaits you ;)

While searching anywhere for a book, the very first thing I would notice is the cover and blurb. Many times the cover and blurb look so promising that you end up buying them, but what if that's nothing something that book actually contains? We'll discuss this after a few topics. So first check if the book and blurb are in sync.

For example : The cover looks proffesional with detailed graphics and eye pleasing but when you get to blurb you'll find the same old tetto-tales which you're not at all interested in.

Many times you'll find cliched stories, honestly as much I've read and experienced, I found cliched stories much more interesting and story filled and juicy as along with the cliched plots they added some wonderful creativity along with it which made even cliched reads enjoyable so I won't say a no no to Romance or Cliche works.

When you feel that okay, now this books looks promising. The blurb says a lot in itself, the way of writing blurb tells you itself the how the book might be. Personally I would refrain overly melodramatic stuff. It would be like a big NO NO for me.

When you're done with blurb and cover and have made up your mind for trying that book out. You think to go and check the reviews. Now see if the reviews and what you felt is in sync or not. Personally I would advise to search for full reviews and refrain from considering some random one word or sentence publicities.

While searching for reviews if you know someone whose thinking matches yours then without any doubt check what they think about it. Else first search reviews for a book which you've already read. In this manner it'll be easier to check if the reviews can be trusted or not. As both reviewers and readers are humans and humans are unique there are chances you feel that the popular reviewer is not posting correct views, but well that's his/her POV and it need not be same for all.

Once you find a reviewer that you feel is good for you then you can check if he/she has reviewed the thing you're buying. If not then dude! Stop overthing and just try it out. WHY BEING SO CONFUSED.

You're not gonna lose or gain the world if you would buy or won't buy a book. As simple as that.
Keep it simple Keep it easy
So folks, that's all for now. I hope you enjoy reading this and do follow me on socials for the updates.

How to plot an awesome story

Once you have made up your mind that you are going to write a book the very next thing that comes to your mind is what should I write about.

Many time it might have happened that you start writing a book and might have even reached the half way and you just come to know that your plot idea is really boring or someone just has wrote the very same story in much more interesting way.

One of the few most important things that you need to take care about before writing a story is designing a good plot.

A good plot is like a blue print of your story, where you know what the story is going to be before writing it out or you can say plotting it with ink on a paper. I might say it as designing your own creative world where everything happens what you think of.

So here I am presenting you some of the important tips that you need to take care of while creating or designing a plot for your story.

1. First you need to choose a genre before you think about a story line or you can do vice-versa if you already have a story in your mind.

2. Once you have decided a genre you need to think about the things or the sequences of events that you need in your story.

3. If you already had a story in your mind you could skip that point and directly think about the characters that you might need in your story.

4. Always remember to keep a few blank spaces in plot so that you can make changes when you feel like as you get to write the story.

5. Choose the amount of characters only as much as you need. Pull only those characters into highlights that are needed. Don't over do with the characters, that might look like chaos and very difficult for readers as well as you to remember who's what.

6. Ensure that you have at least one Main Character (MC), you can have more than one which totally depends on the type of your story but its advisable to limit the main characters to max 3 or 4.

7. Once you're done with the characters choose the time in which your story exists along with the place you want it to happen.

8. Once you are done with all the points above you can start now plotting the characters according to sequences in your story that are going to happen.

9. Always remember to provide the information only as much as its needed according to your plot. Avoid information dump as far as possible.

10. If you're story has a character's past don't overdo with the past, just keep it as much as its needed and let the story flow.

11. Write down all the things that you think are god enough to start with and finalise your story plot.

12. Ensure that you have realistic characters and they don't end up looking same in your story.

13. To avoid generalisation of the characters you need to research about the time, era and type of personality that you're going to develop for your characters.

14. While developing personalities for characters ensure that it goes with your genre and story. Dont make a bad-ass character type a hero in your story. I know its you're story you wanna do it how you want but that certainly won't be keeping up while writing and readers as well.

15. Don't ever forget to play with the characters as much as you want and even with the plot and timezone. Be as creative and realistic with your plot as much as you can. Bring it out into reality. You can always do some character sketches and stuff to get a proper idea of your characters and scenes.

16. Last and the most important thing is choosing a POV to write from. You'll find many articles over internet that'll guide you to choose a POV but always keep in mind to choose a POV that suits your story. After all you're the writer and choose one you need and just let your creativity flow.

if hope these points will help you out to plan out a good story and if you like these don't forget to share the post and follow me on socials for further updates.

Tips for Writing a Good Book

In the previous posts I had been talking a lot about the Don'ts of book writing. Here are some Do's about the book writing.

1. The title and the story should be in sync. You cannot have a title like 'The Hardest Choice' and don't have a difficult choice anywhere in your plot. (Quite obvious but many don't follow it)

2. Try to keep the title of maximum four words. Personally I turn down those novels which have a long title like, 'I am a model undercover as a school's nerd.' It gives away quite a lot. Be creative in title. Do a bit of research over the internet and brain storm with friends for the title.

3. A Blurb should be strong enough to grab the attention. A good blurb can attract many readers similarly a bad one can drive them away. So it's quite essential to have a good, catchy and creative blurb for your book.

One of the golden rules for a good blurb is that you don't give away too much. Introduce the theme and leave it at the point where the reader feels curious to know more about your work. Also I would suggest that if your story is a conventional drama then  you should keep a creative summary. Having an opening line or a dialogue from the book definitely helps to make it better.

3. The MC(Main Charachter) should be seen from the beginning of your book i.e. from the first chapter itself. Keep in mind that there your book shouldn't start with a dialouge in the first paragraph itself. Give a bit intro to plot or something on the similar lines.

4. Out of all the books I read till now, most of them had overused character names. Please try being creative with your character names. Don't use the same old overused cliched names. You might think that they are good but honeslty they are too overused. We already have a lot of names that have an impact. So why not to use them?

5. Be consistent with your POVs. Refrain from changing them frequently. If you are a new writer, try writing in Third Person Limited. It is the easiest way to write.

6. Then there are the Casting Maniacs. Often I see the people casting unnecessary characters. Please your story is not a multi star cast movie. Casting should be of the main two characters and one or two supporting characters. There's no need of casting too many characters as they might turn out to be nightmare for you.

7. Grammar and punctuation errors should be rectified as soon as possible. This can be done by proof-reading the chapter every time. Grammar and punctuation show how much command do you have over English language. Editing can be done later on when your book is finally completed leaving no stuff behind.

8.  Over describing of feelings should be avoided. Nobody is interested in three page description of how somebody is feeling. It drags the story unnecessarily and makes it a bore. Unless and until you are writing a Cancer novel, emotional drag should be avoided. Use good words to make impact, not too many words.

9. Good usage of words and vocabulary doesn't hurt. Refer to a dictionary for good words but it should not be undecipherable at the same time. Refrain from using the chatting languages and slangs.

10. Avoid mixing of languages in your book. You can surely use a few words but don't overdo of those words inside the book. choose the language you want to write your book in and stick with it.

11. No need to add the past of the supporting characters if it does not have a link to the MC or the story. Refrain writing about the past of any character in a few initial chapters.  Stick as much to the story as you can, don't go too much with the past.

13. Try to keep the chapter length to maximum 2K words if posting online. If it is getting more than 2K, divide it.

14. If you write a long author's note, it's advisable to add it at the end of the chapter so that the reader get to read the chapter first.

15. Unnecessary twists and turns just to create spice should be avoided. Every twist in the story needs to have a good reason behind it.

17. Until and unless it is a teen fiction, try to have a justification for villain's behaviour. Nobody is born a villain, try being more realistic.

18.One of the most important things is that dialogues should be as realistic as possible.

19. You should have a proper ending for a novel, even if you are planning to have a sequel of the novel.

20. Lastly, don't promote suicide, self harm, domestic violence and rape. Try to keep negativity away from your book as far as possible.

Hope it helps. Keep writing.

How to attract readers and get more reads - From POV of an Avid Reader

Wattpad is an awesome place to create and share your imaginary world into awesomely dwindled stories. As a writer you may go through hundreds of posts over internet, consider a lot of writing tips and what not. But sometimes your book isn't getting the attention you think it should be getting.

There are several reasons why reader just ducks your book aside and never reads it again or might just read but never recommend it to anyone else. In the previous post ' What makes me put your book down - From a POV of Book Critique ' I had mentioned the points which you need to take care of while writing a book which were from a POV of a Book Critique or an Expert.

Here I am going to talk about Reader's POV

It happens many times that some books having not so good ratings by the critics are loved by audience. For example the famous "Fifty shades of Grey" Or the books of the Indian Best-Seller Author "Chetan Bhagat" . There are a few areas which need to be covered while considering the point of audience as well.

So here are a few points that you need to take care of while writing a book you get the amount of reads that your book really is worth of.

1) Choose the Audience

This is extremely important step to be kept in mind while writing the book. At times writers forget that they are writing a book to tell a story and convey the information to a set of audience. There are a lot of factors that decides how your book will perform and most of them depend on the kind of audience you choose.

Don't blindly start writing a Sci-Fi and expect it to reach millions of readers as Sci-Fi and Fantasy are the some of the genres which aren't generally being picked up from the shelf by first time readers. Some Genres are like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Adventure, Thrillers, History and Mystery have very limited set of audience though its a regular and loyal type of audience.

Such books might get very limited amount of reads but the number is pretty much constant and sees very limited growth whereas the genres like Romance, Teen Fiction and Young Adult are the type of genres which have the most fluctuations but are generally opted by first time readers so there are a lot of chances to get new readers engrossed in your books. But readers in this genre aren't quite regular and there are chances of getting extremely high reads or even few reads or no reads as a worst nightmare, which all depends on the type of the world you create inside your book.

Factors like Age, Language, Culture etc too have an effect that has to be kept in mind.

2) Choose Appropriate Plot

This is the second most Important step when it comes to writing a book. After you choose your audience. Once you have made up your mind of writing a genre for a specific set of audience. Now its time for choosing a plot and creating a new world of imagination. Age of the audience here is most accounted factor along with the type of genre you wanna write your new story in. Make sure its not a Adult Romance in a Sci-Fi which you're aiming for Kids (Sarcasm).

3) Choose the Language

The level of language is also one of the most important factors when it comes to readers. Keep the thing in mind that you are writing a book for audience and not for yourself. Choose the level of language depending on your audience.

If you wanna cater to masses don't go over with your shakespearen language. We all know that you have awesome knowledge of words but if a reader needs to look at dictionary up to or more than 10 times while reading a few pages then there are rare chances of getting your book into mass reads. Your book might be well acknowledged by other writers and people who belong to literature background or people with a very good knowledge of literature though but won't go well with masses.

Usage new words is good which makes the text more attractive and fun to read but an over do of such words which already have simple and quite attractive meanings is useless to be very honest. That doesn't mean that you start writing using all the slangs and chatting languages in your story. A perfect balance is needed.

4) Working with Trends

Another little thing that should be taken care of while writing a book. Trends are also one of the few factors that influence the readers to choose your book. Generally Romance, Teen Fiction, and now even Young Adult are a kind of books which are always in trend but adding a bit of Romance in Sci-FI or Historical Fiction or Mystery won't spoil your plot.

You need to design a strong plot if you want to get mass reads. If you're writing a Rom-Com, Here Romance is just a Filler and Comedy is the thing you need to focus on. A filler is just like a your spine, it gives a kind of backbone to your plot. A filler acts like salt in food, perfect amount is needed so that your food tastes good. You need to Remember that Romance is only a filler.

While you're writing a purely Romantic fiction you need a another major factor that drives your story as Romance is just a filler, all it can provide is a back support but it won't drive your story ahead.

5) Book Promotions

Here comes the part which is like kind of important but sometimes its the only part a few Authors focus on. First you need to create a work that's worthy to be promoted and talked about. The promotions are only the secondary and helping hands. If your book is really good it will surely reach the masses as when people like something they are bound to talk about it.

All you need to do is keep them updated about your book's status and other stuff. Create an Author/Book page where your readers can connect with you, maintain a blog or a place over Internet where you share all the updates about your book and that's all when it comes to promotions. There's no need of intrusive adverts on pretty much all of the media that reaches to people. Remember

Work in Silence and let your Book speak

I know the quote is not the one that's used most of the times. That's all for now that you need to take care of about your books to get more reads. If you like the posts don't forget to share it with your fellow writers and you can follow on socials for all kinds of updates. I this information comes out handy while writing a new book.

What makes me put your book down - From a POV of Book Critique

There are several articles on how to write a book and how to go about planning and creating a book. But still, it happens that people most of the times either don't choose your story or just leave it halfway.

There are several things to be considered and accomplished while creating and planning a good story. You take a lot of efforts to shape and outline your creative world that was residing inside your mind on to paper. But what drives people off from your book?

In this article I have discussed most of the points apart from just plain grammar or language that turns away any reader from your book.

I have read many published books and even have reviewed a lot of Wattpad books, where I mostly send them a personal message with the points and a detailed review of where to and how to improve as many of them get demotivated when those points are brought out in public.

There are cases where I just read not more than a para and turn off the book. Here are a few points that specifically drives me off from a book.

1) Cliche Plot

It's one of those things that restricts me from even choosing a book forget opening and looking into it. If you're writing a cliche then make sure your story really has some interesting ups and downs or maybe some thrills.

Most of the times I found same old typical Bad Boy- Good Girl plots or CEO/Billionaire-introvert girl plots. Why everyone needs to portray girl as a weakling? I didn't understand why you need to portray any sex as weak or bad or anything?

2) Improper Blurb :

There are a lot of people who actually don't really either know what a blurb means or what's need for a blurb. In most of the cases where I had reviewed, there were same old points in the blurb that you will find in every other story.

I don't need an explanation for why you have chosen this genre because I know you're writing a Romance/Teen Ficton/Mystery/Sci-Fi/etc

You need to highlight why your story is different from others. Introduce your characters, give some idea about the plot, scene or the location and at the same time don't tell the whole story in the blurb itself.

Genres like Romance and Teen Fiction mostly have extremely similar blurbs. You need to show why your story is worth a read.

3) Plot-holes :

Well I know the word 'Plot-holes' have no existence but you might have understood what I meant by that. The plot isn't designed properly and there are huge gaps in story sequences. Sometimes while reading I wonder "Now where did this come from?" then I scroll up and down a few chapters and try to figure out if I had missed anything and most of the times I find no information regarding it.

4) Extensive Stretching :

The word itself says a lot. There are many plots where even the minutest things are stretched into pages long chapter. I had reviewed a book where only a single scene had taken over a huge chapter somewhere around 8K words and If I personally would have edited it then the chapter would hardly come around 2-3K words. Don't unnecessarily stretch the things. Details are needed for better imagination and understanding of the plot, but over detailing makes the plot bore. Either it makes reader skip the chapter or put the book down and never look at it again.

5) No background :

This was one of the most ridiculous things I had seen, Like you want me to imagine and put my own background for your story? It's a complete opposite of the point above. Make sure you have enough descriptions about your plot background that suffices reader's curiosity.

6) Depressive Plots :

If there's nothing but only depression in more than half or even in half of your book then its a complete turn off. I would never read even a paragraph ahead after that. No one needs to read a depressive book that turns off the reader's mood. Depressive scenes can be placed but it shouldn't take over your whole book. Look at the overall feel of the book and make sure that it isn't depressive.

7)  Improper Genre :

Choosing a perfect genre for your story is one of the most important things that you need to do. For example, there are many cases where people have placed their Romance books in Mystery genre as It has a element of mystery to it. If the mystery has a significant role in your story than you can add it as a sub-genre.

You need to let your book through beta-reading or even discuss your plot with someone who knows more about writing and take their help to classify your book in an appropriate genre.

So there were a few points that specifically drives me off from any book. If you like this article then don't forget to share it with your friends.

eBook Review - The ultimate cheat sheet - 7 Keys to happiness

Hello everyone, I was just scrolling through my Google Plus feed when i came across a post which had this eBook - The Ultimate Cheat Sheet – 7 Keys to happiness. Whilst being intrigued by the title I thought of reviewing it and here’s my outlook about this little eBook.

Cover Design:
The design is simple yet inspiring. It lets those soothing vibes from it which instantly makes your mind relax. A good choice of the background though I wished the font color for text on the cover could be something contrasting that could help me to distinguish it easily from the background without straining my eyes over it.

Content:
The content is well arranged and there’s an excellent use of pictures in this book which has that soothing aura making you feel relaxed and happy, putting your mind in a happy-calm state. The book has inspiring quotes and tips that will make you feel better and have a better outlook towards life. Thus serving its purpose of making you happy. It revolves around 7 Keys to happiness where it gives you a sort of reasoning and simple hacks to live life happily. It’s a short and sweet little effort that is worth a read. Though, I would love if the content was much more elaborated and well described as the content really cuts back to 3-4 pages where images take over most of the space. I would rate this short little book 3 stars for serving its purpose and letting out good vibes to readers.
